Employee Spotlight: Olga Vine, Senior Frontend Software Engineer

We are excited to kick off our employee spotlight series here at Entera. We value our employees and want to share their stories with you!

Meet Olga Vine, a Senior Frontend Software Engineer here at Entera.

Olga joined Entera in September 2022 and since then has played a key role in the development and success of many of our high-priority development projects! So, without further ado, let's get to know Olga a little bit better!

What does your job entail here at Entera? I work on developing Entera’s web-application; I’m focused on creating a software program that our clients (institutional real estate investors) can access and interact with online.

Where are you located? I am a remote employee based out of New Jersey.

What are you working on right now? Right now I’m updating maps throughout Entera’s SaaS real estate platform as well as our property underwriting page. I’m also excited to tackle a new project for title application.  The title application will allow our team to have access to the most recent title documentation and data available.

What do you like most about working at Entera? The people are smart, open-minded, and always ready to help. I also like the atmosphere here. On the one hand, there is a lot of challenging work, but on the other hand, I don't feel like I'm in a marathon; my managers give me time to do it right.

Who or what inspired you to pursue the career you have today? The children’s book Doctor Fortran - I read it numerous times when I was a child. The movie “Hackers” also inspired me. 😀

How do you like to start your day (morning routine)? I start my day by walking with my dog, drinking coffee, and reading Morning Brew and TLDR.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Hopefully at Entera or on Mars to build a new home for humanity.

How do you stay informed and up-to-date on trends within your industry or role? I have a few sources that I read regularly, such as TLDR, Medium, Dev.to. The conversations with my colleagues and friends in the industry also provide interesting information to explore further.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career? I think the best advice for engineers is to be curious and don’t be lazy!

What is one of the toughest challenges you’ve had to overcome at work? I would say dealing with my imposter syndrome 😀. To overcome this, I remind myself that I'm brave to be where I'm and that I'm strong and smart enough to keep learning and become a better engineer. I even have sticky notes with these reminders on my monitor.

How have you grown professionally while at Entera? By working with smart people on very challenging projects.

Tell us something about you that many of your colleagues don’t know (fun fact). When I was young I was a metalhead and played keyboard, drums, and sang with metal bands.

What motivates you? How do you stay motivated at work? I like to solve puzzles and this is exactly what I do every day at work.

What are you currently binge-watching or binge-reading? I’m reading The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music by Dave Grohl - it's a very inspiring book. Binge-watching? Ted Lasso!
